Journey Map

All Design & Construction projects must, by law, be advertised in several ways and the announcements must be made on a certain schedule. The FWP website is one of the places they advertise and update information about their projects. Because their content is updated on the website manually, web staff often finds themselves working on a tight schedule to meet these deadlines. This project would have allowed Design & Construction staff to update their content themselves as they gathered documents. Because some of the data that is used on the website is also used for accounting purposes, this project offers a solution where they could enter everything in one place, without duplication. It also offers the abilty to do many types of reports with just a few clicks. Today, some of these reports take days to create.

Journey Map

This journey map was created to help developers and decision makers understand the bid process.

The bid process involves many people, some FWP personnel and many others outside of the agency. There are many dependencies and deadlines in the process.

  • The FWP Contracts Manager manages all of the people, required documentation, and deadlines to ensure each step is completed legally and on schedule.
  • Many contractors follow the documents and timeline and prepare their bids by the due date.
  • Suppliers watch the bids and contact contractors with supply information so the contracts can complete their bids.
  • Once the project is bid and begins, the Accountant must keep track of the financial data.

Wireframes

I created high-fidelity wireframes in Axure to show how the website will display projects throughout their three phases:

  • Upcoming Bids Projects
  • Recently Bid Projects
  • Recently Completed Projects

Prototype

This is an Axure low-fidelity prototype showing the ability to edit a project. There's a lot of data stored for each project including information for the website as well as accounting data. The prototype shows how easily the accountant can manage all the necessary data in one place. It also shows how one can create and print various reports with just a few clicks.
